What’s the latest with the FDA and e-cigs? They gonna ban them or what? I thought they lost the case against NJOY?

It is said they lost, but it may take a long time to enforce. They are still impouding if they like.

Just to clarify, it was the FDA who lost, but they are appealing and continue to make life difficult until the final appeal is heard. Hopefully these games will all be over soon. The FDA has no right, or reason for that matter to do what they are doing. Seems like it’s all just a game of dirty politics.

“This case appears to be yet another example of F.D.A.’s aggressive efforts to regulate recreational tobacco products as drugs or devices,” Judge Leon wrote.

With the passage of landmark tobacco legislation last year, he added, the Food and Drug Administration’s new tobacco division will be able to regulate the contents and marketing claims of e-cigarettes in the same way it is about to begin regulating traditional tobacco products. But the agency’s drug division cannot ban the devices, the judge ruled.

One of the ways that the government managed to pass its recent tobacco reform bill was by enlisting big tobacco’s support. So the FDA and big tobacco have a symbiotic relationship. The government gets billions of dollars from excise tax revenue on and lawsuits related to cigarettes. Big tobacco gets regulation that makes it harder for smaller companies to compete. So the FDA needs to keep up its end of the bargain here and not allow a threat like e-cigarettes to take hold in the U.S. — even if they did turn out to be good for the American people.

It is said That NY city has been Passed The Policy of ban e cigarette!

Our goverment and states makes too much money on tobbaco of course they are going to try to get rid of E-Cigarettes.

I think FDA will not ban this because its much better than traditional tobacco cigarettes…

@Emily: That’s exactly right. At 61 I remember all too clearly that in my youth big tobacco did everything in its power to addict me and others of my age. Many died horribly, many are still dying horribly. The government was at the time subsidizing big tobacco (even buying the stuff and shipping it in overseas aid packages to starving countries), and finally about the time I was fully addicted, the Surgeon General came out with a wishy washy statement: “Cigarette smoking MAY be hazardous to your health.” They’d known it for years.

I tried a half dozen ways to quit, dozens of times. Finally about 16 months ago I purchased my first e-cig. Forty-five years of smoking, 45 seconds to quit. Haven’t lit up since.

Not that I didn’t see this FDA thing coming. Just as with the flood of TV, radio, print, and billboard ads when I was a kid, big pharma is now promoting hundreds of drugs (many to smokers and those with smoking related illnesses). Many of these drugs are damaging and killing people (hundreds of thousands per year). Again the government approves, and cracks down hard on any and all alternatives (like organic foods and supplements). The FDA is a criminal, facist organization which in no way would like to see me, you, or anyone else actually healthy. They are in it for the money and the power. Crushing e-cigs in favor of big tobacco and big pharma is simply another way for them to get and keep it.

What really pisses me off is that, having tried several e-liquids from overseas and found one I could live with, the FDA pressured US Customs into holding up their shipments. So I switched to an American company they could not do this to, and have come to love the product. So a year later, who do they now send draconian warnings to? My American supplier.

I’m sure I’m not alone in asking: Why is it my government seems hell bent on killing me? Why does the FDA (and the USDA) consistently go after the very things keeping so many of us alive and well, while expressly permitting things which sicken and kill US citizens? Seriously, why? Their track record is so consistent in this, we’d have to be idiots to think their deadly decisions have been mere coincidence.

Yes off course its a good alternative to tobacco cigarette.by using this one can get rid of this nasty smoking habit..

like everyone said, the government is more interested in making money than saving peoples lives, e-cigs are wihout a doubt better for you than regular cigs, i think the best thing to do is search online for any groups that are fighting the FDA to stop the ban on e-cigs and join, the stronger we are the better chance we have.

I don’t think they going to banned this.Actually this is very much important for the people of USA.Many people are in the favor of the E-cigarette.So i think Govt will take some law for this.Which is very good thing.
